Wheel bearings
« on: February 19, 2014, 08:38:06 pm »
Hearing a slight drone when driving that continues when in motion and not in gear.
I'm suspecting a wheel bearing, how much are they to do these days?
Got Pirelli p zeros on the back with 3m left so could it be these making the noise maybe?

Hi, it could be your tyres as they go out of shape on the back thats what happened to mine.

I had what I thought was rear bearing rumble and mine also turned out to be the tyres , common on mk3 so i'm told and common with bridgestones as well , with the tyres that low new rubber could be the cheapest option , if you can feel any play when jacked up

Yeah could be tyre noise. if you've got a jack lift the car and spin/feel for play in bearing I'd do all four just for good measure even if you think you know what corner it's coming for they can fool you easy when it comes to where you think the noise is coming from.
