« on: February 28, 2014, 10:46:54 pm »
I have fitted about 4 different sets of front led sidelight bulbs, every set has had different problems, the latest set come on for a couple of seconds then go out, as soon as I put normal bulbs back in they are always ok, but look grim compared to leds . Anybody had this problem

I had this with my current side light bulbs.  I put the new ones in they would come on for a few seconds then go out. Put the old bulbs back in and would do exactly the same.  After changing the new and old bulbs around countless time they suddenly stayed on   made no sense to me and still doesnt.

Yes, its so annoying, some are ok for a few days, then one goes out then the next day the other one goes out then one comes back on, but the ones I tried today simply come on for about 2 seconds then go out

I have just ditched my LED sidelights and number plate lights for this reason. More hassle than they are worth I think.

Biffo are they Canbus compatible? I had the same problem with my footwells. The car sends power to the bulbs briefly but as LEDs draw less current (non canbus) the car doesnt detect anything and will cut the feed.

I bought these LED 501's and havent had any problems:

I have leds on the number plates get a little bit of hassle now and again, leds in the interior, they are ok , its just the sidelight bulbs. Is it just the nature of the bulbs? If so why the hell do they sell them

Not a clue! They are a right pain to test too because of the polarities. What headlights do you run next to your led sides? Ive got osram night breakers and they dont look that great.

I agree with ^ yellow sidelights look crap
With regards to number plate bulb failures I bought these for mine www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Number-License-Plate-Lamp-Light-For-VW-Golf-MK4-MK5-Passat-CC-Polo-LV31-/251305665169?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a82fc2291
£20 and the quality is really good and I haven't had any issue in the 5 months I've had them in.
Takes 5 minutes tops to out both In as well  :happy2:

I can't understand why most people buy silly little led bulbs for number plates where the tiny built in resistors burn out and cause various faults, also there quite dim, 20 quid spent on the link above gives you really good lights,  big resistors( not shown in pic) that won't burn out and you'll never get any faults with them
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

So what is different about Reapers bulbs compared to the 5 different bulbs I have tried, is there better resistors, or is it just down to luck
