Just a quick input from me - from a Danish forum I have read about various cases with same symptom like yours.

All were fixed with a new rear wheel bearing (one of them was faulty), maybe it could fix your problem as well?

Update:

Spoke to R-Tech and have been advised that the DSG map will not be wiped if I follow the procedure in the link.  :jumpmove:

BigMig95 has very kindly offered to do the reset tomorrow so will let you know how that goes...

Manthei... If the reset doesnt work I will try the wheel bearing... its very strange thing to change regarding my symptoms but what the heck!

Update:
BigMig95 has very kindly offered to do the reset tomorrow so will let you know how that goes...

The test drive afterwards is said to be important in resetting the box so do try to do it.

"Drive in Tiptronic Mode from stand still up to 6th Gear.
While doing that make sure to drive in Gears 3 or 5 for approx. 5 minutes and also in 4 or 6 for approx. 5 minutes.
The engine speed window for all gears is 1200 - 3500 RPM (for clutch calibration)".
Without traction power is nothing!

You could ask BigMig95 if he could help you measure the speed on each wheel - in VAG-COM/VCDS if the reset is not working. If there is a spike in speed (1 km/h) on one wheel you should have found the faulty wheel bearing or ABS ring :smiley: It is those spikes that makes the DSG stay in gears from what I heard - I am not a mechanic  :wink:

Another way to test it should be to take out the fuse to the ABS - if it runs fine without that the problem is most likely the wheel bearing and/or ABS ring - you just need to find the faulty one as mentioned above.

Update: Carried out the DSG reset as recommended with help
of BigMig95. To start with it was working fine but now it's back to how it was :sad1:

Next step is to carry out the wheel speed test as mentioned by Manthei.

Will do this hopefully in the next few days. Really need to get this sorted!

If anyone else has had the same problem, or can help, it would be much appreciated.

You tried pulling the ABS fuse as recommended by Manthei.  Not that familiar with the vehicles braking circuit but might be worth a try and is quick and easy to do ? Get some more input on this as I personally wouldn't want to mess with the braking circuit without being 100% sure I knew what I was doing.  Should just disable the ABS but it's something you need to be sure about.

Make sure your brakes work ok though before going out on a decent test drive  :scared: :laugh:

If you pull the ABS fuse, the brakes will still work, but will have more rear bias - the ABS controls the rear bias.

Just avoid braking hard on turn-in to bends, or down hill.  If you do, you might find the rear end stepping out.

I also confirm that faults with the ABS - particularly the rear wheel sensors and/or sensor rings can affect the shift on the DSG, as can a tired battery.
