Choosing a DSG or Manual

So I am looking at some GTI's now as the GT TDi route will be too costly.

I was just wondering the main differences between DSG & Manual?

The main difference between DSG and Manual is that the DSG doenst have a clutch and it changes gear automatically.

Just getting my vote for the DSG in! These threads can go on forever though, it comes down to personal preference.

This is the same choice i'll be making with my next car.
If I find a DSG GTi with the paddles behind the steering wheel, then I think I'd be inclined to take it.
But I know i'll miss the classic feeling of the manual gear changes. So I'm really stuck on what to do.
I guess it's a case of really weighing up the strengths and weaknesses of both.
I.e. DSG has no clutch issues, but can have mechatronics trouble.
No stress in traffic with a DSG and can do more with remaps without having the costs of clutches to deal with, with a good map and a DSG map, the car will get some good gains.

The main difference between DSG and Manual is that the DSG doenst have a clutch and it changes gear automatically. 

The main difference is that the DGS has two clutches and changes gear automatically.

It is something I have been wondering aswell with my next move being to the MK6 GTD. Not sure whether to go for the DSG. Only way I will know is to test drive one and see how I get on when the time comes.

IMO the diesels are much better with the DSG box.

Personally I'd say you can't make a decision accurately until you've tried them both.

From what I've heard when buying a DSG just check its been serviced regularly.

I'm a keen driver, i've just made a change to DSG as I fancied trying something with paddles. Its worlds apart from a traditional CVT auto. I can't say I miss my clutch pedal and driving in heavy traffic is so much easier.

Agreed, suits the CR TDI exceptionally well. I think it's because the power band is quite narrow on diesels and the DSG knows the right time to change for good performance.

From reading on this forums and others, I am yet to read a case where somebody has changed back to manual after going DSG!!

I was a bit dubious about the DSG but once I got it I've loved it ever since.

Selling my Edition 30 DSG now but my next car will have DSG too (Probably a Skoda vRS).
