High level brake light - has anybody done it?
« on: April 05, 2014, 01:28:15 pm »
Hi,

I have just done mine and all is now working ok but I was struggling to get the gromit back in, the top part I pushed in too far and the bottom part is still hanging out slighly so its like 60% in. At the time I was in a rush so thought It would be ok like this.

But now after thinking about I wish I did it 100%
Do you think it will be ok like this?
I assume its there to stop dirt getting down the hole but looking at the design and the fact its 60% in anyway I think it should be ok.
What do you guys think?

Thanks,
mac

I did mine in freezing cold weather and with numb fingers managed to push the gromit all the way through the hole!  :ashamed:
Couldn't get it back out, so I just whacked loads of sealant around it to cover the hole. All's been fine since. Yours will probably be ok, but I wouldn't like to say for sure.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I kind of wish I never rushed it now lol.

Do you know if its possible to pull the light back off now the screws are not involved without breaking anything?

I do think it should be ok, its just not completely flush if you get what I mean.
I i might just go around the light/gaps with some clear sealant to be extra safe side

had the same issue last weekend and now worrying a little bit about it but not sure how big an issue it is really. Should be easier to pop it out than before as it's just a clip (and/or adhesive pads) rather than screws too.

Yeah, I dont see why it shouldnt just pull back out very easily. After all, its not really held in by anything anymore. When I replaced mine I did use some clear sealant around the edges of the light just to help hold it in place and try and keep moisture out.
