Good quality subwoofer to go with Alpine monoblock amp?

I have just upgraded the system in my Golf 'R' to a top of the range Alpine,speaker's in the MK6 are 10 time's better than a MK5 but I still want a little bit more bass so have managed to pickup a Apline monoblock amp but am wanting to know what sort of sub to pair it up with?My mate swear's by JL Audio but I thought of sticking with Alpine!

Can you post alpine mono block model number so I can asses the power ratings. Then I will be able to best advise.
There are much better options than the Alpine subwoofers these days I'm afraid to inform you.

JL Audio subwoofers, have a very unique sound. People other like it or hate it.

Happy to provide a few suggestions once I have amplifier model and or specs.

Ok the 4 ohm rating is simply not powerful enough to run any decent sub.
The 2 ohm load is around the 300-350 wrms. this give you more options to work with.

Now before I recommend a SUB. Do you care how much space gets used?
If not, I have a great suggestion.

If you want sound quality over anything else. I have an idea.

Or do you want some authority in the subwoofer?


What kind of music do you tend to listen to, this also plays a big part in choice of subwoofers.

Hi,I listen to mostly R&B so some nice clean bass would be ideal!I don't want it to take up a lot of space so was thinking of a single 10" or 12" sub,let's forget about the Alpine amp and say what would you say would be a good sub/amp combo?

if you want to occupy as little space as possible. Which will also work with your current amp

If you want a sub that can play what you want has a slightly larger box than the above suggestion

Works well in 0.5-0.6ft3 sealed

BUT, if you want a sub that can play anything, and I mean anything. Sound BLOODY ASTONISHING on everything.

The IDMAX can play anything and do it extremely well. It's rated around 1000wrms. But 350-400 makes it sing well.

Hi, thanks once again, I could go for a sub which would take up a little more space as my boot stays empty most of the time, I've since  sold the Alpine a part so can get a amp and subwoofer which h would be more suited to my needs.

Been looking at the 12" Hertz as it would be a good pairing with the amp,maybe this one?

that should sound really nice. these day's 10" do a really good job. But like before if no space constraints.
