RCD310 - Aux? Bluetooth?
« on: March 16, 2014, 02:39:52 pm »
Hi guys,

I recently bought an RCD310 to fit into my MK6 Golf to replace the RCD210 which it came with. Anyone who knows about the basic models, they come with hee-haw, which is basically mine because I have an 'S' model. The RCD210 was scuffing CD's and was generally giving me hassle so it was time to go.  Anyway, I have been looking to add an aux port to the car for some time but don't want to spend heaps of money on it just for a simple feature which I could get using a third-party stereo system (even if they look naff i think). I've seen my mates 2011 polo which has an aux port in one of the blank buttons beside the gearstick and would love to have that in my car. I've saw on fleebay that you can buy one of these kits and apparently they fit straight into the back of the headunit, anyone tried this? Will I need anything else to do this? It seems pretty basic but I think the integration of where I want the button might be a struggle by the sounds of it. I don't see the difference between buying a 'dension' or simply plugging one of these into the back of it.

Also, I noticed that the stereo has a built in bluetooth audio feature. As my car doesn't have bluetooth prep for handsfree or anything like that, is there any way I can get this working without that? I don't know anything about these but I have saw something called a 'module' on fleebay, is this the right thing?

All help is much appreciated!!  :drinking:

You have already seemed to sort your AUX input :happy2: :happy2:

Just buy a White MFD display compatible Bluetooth kit, which will include all wiring looms etc.
You can either opt to buy the kit with wiring loom setup for AUX or simply re-pin the AUX into the bluetooth wiring kit.
The simple kit will do as you have no true functions other than A2DP to the radio.
If you get the highline BT kit, you can search playlists, or podcast etc from the radio. On the RCD310 it's a little cumbersome to do. However still manageable.

On the RCD510 it's really easy to navigate and control phonebook etc from Radio or MFD on cluster and MFSW.

Great, looks like I've fought some of the battle!  :jumping:

I wouldn't mind just playing the tunes to the player itself without the ability to change the songs from the unit. Would I really need the box which will lead into the back of the unit or would simply buying that wire allow for music to play through the headunit?

Thanks for your help man!

Via BT or AUX?

as you seem to have everything set for AUX.

Aux will only allow for sound.
All functions to be controlled from phone, iPad or tablet etc.
