oil light won't come on
« on: March 18, 2014, 12:11:30 pm »
i recently bought a golf gti 30 edition and it just came out of service the other day , but the guy in the workshop didn't do it quite right and all the oil leaked out. ... but what scares me the most is that the low oil light in the dashboard didnt turn on though there was almost no oil on the engine.
have you any idea what this could be?

errrr, the question I would be asking is "how the hell did the "mechanic" mess up a relatively simple oil change?!?!?"

When you say wasn't any in there, how much oil did it need to full it up again?

i am not sure it went back to the shop and they change the oil again, but i took a look at the dipstick and there wasn't any oil on it , not even at minimum.

Unbelievable. The level sensor may be faulty.

You can measure oil level with VCDS (it measures in MM) mine is around 54mm when full.

So check it that way to ensure level sensor is not faulty..

it was connected to a computer by the dealer and it shows no errors ...wouldn't i see if the sensor is faulty when the car is connected to a computer ?

What kind of monkeys do they employ nowadays, was the car running when the oil leaked, if so may have caused expensive damage to crankshaft bearings

It would have to be very low to cause the sensor to off. It would be well off the bottom of the stick if it did...
