High Milers
« on: October 08, 2009, 05:19:54 pm »
Whos got the highest milage GTI on here? has anyone crossed the dreaded 100,000 mark? mine is at 95,000 and im worried about a) loss of value over 100,000 and b) faults, mine has been perfect so far.

My old MKIV did a load which killed off the residuals. Funny how dealers and the book differ in used values.

The black book seems when looking at mileage values put's the average user a 8k a year....what planet are they on!!

Most people unless walking to work are averaging well over 12k a year. As usual the stealers I find are ridiculous when taking mileage into account.

Certainly the used values of low mileage GTI's are through the roof.

....I couldn't agree more! :happy2:

I'm at 75k miles after 4 years and don't care two figs about how it effects what they call 'residuals' - Life is for living and you never know when it'll end, so enjoy every day!

Proper and very regular maintenance is the key to longevity. I met someone at Spa on Monday who was using a VW van to tow a Scooby on a trailer and his van had done 230k miles without problems.

Upgrading parts and replacing oem bushes with poly etc should all help extend the life.

Wow - mine's actually the opposite....

4.5 years old with just over 25K on the clock!!

Wifey's got a 306 GTi6, which has 156K on the clock, and my old S4 had 112K......

as said, cars are meant to be driven!!!
