Looking at buying an edition 30
« on: March 19, 2014, 07:33:56 pm »
Hi, I'm looking at buying an edition 30.

Iv seen a few on the Internet and just have a few questions.

One that I have seen is a 56 plate with 120 thousand miles but has full service history, just had a Campbell and the dsg gearbox rebuilt. It's a stage 2 revo. Would the mileage put people off ?

The other is a stage 3 running 360bhp and has 90 thousand miles, again has full service history, Campbell and gearbox oil change.

The one with 120 thousand is 8k and the one with 90 thousand is 9.

What are people's thoughts ? Cheers

When it comes to mileage mate I always question the history, as long as the history is backed up with receipts and when you view it you can tell it's been looked after then it's up to you, personally I'm not a fan of buying a modded car, prefer to start from scratch!

Yes history is there to back up and I can see what your saying but will end up doing what's already done so will cost a lot more to start from scratch.

Mine is a 56, as were others registered up until March 2007
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I would say that the cost would have to be reflective with the mileage and current market.

I wouldn't necessarily pay a premium for a mapped car as I would rather customise the car to myself.
Part of the enjoyment of ownership I guess.

For 8-9K you could pick up a nice standard car with much lower mileage  :driver:

I was under the impression that the edition 30 was only on 57/07 & 58/08 ???? I'm obviously mistaken ...

My mistake its a 57 plate just got a private plate on

This is the one with 120k miles, just had a camber change. Wonder how the gearbox will be at this mileage ?

First one is in Keighley, go with your eyes wide open, ideally if you view take someone mechanically minded.  I am not saying this is the case, but there are a number of garages trading repaired cars as genuine and some repairs are shocking. Tread carefully.

Ohh right, well I'm an engineer so not going in blind. It's just the mileage that's putting me off
