Hi everyone!

Had a bit of time on my hands this week and ended up trying my hand at doing some personalised stitching for my MK6 flat bottom mfsw with boring black stitch.

Was going to go for one colour but decided to go all out and go 2-tone. Think Iv only seen 1 on here with 2 tone stitch so pretty rare thing this!

Took my time as I didnt want to ruin a perfectly good wheel. Seriously took a LONGG time on it, guestimate at 7hrs to get the pattern to my OCD liking, integrate into the factory stitch , lay on the custom stitches, take out the slack and tie off the ends. (IO grade suture knots no less ;)  )

Heres a couple of in progress pics, and then the finished article. Wrapped the leather in film to prevent damage incase your wondering! Would be easy and quick to rip off the factory stitch and then do custom work,  but the mod it then not easily reversible, whereas integrating into the factory stitch like Iv done means this is not an issue but takes longer.

Im pretty chuffed but let me know your thoughts on this result, use red or silver buttons with this red/silver combo, other colour combos. Was thinking if there was interest in this I could do this for others but the time factor is immense to do it properly and not to mention, my fingers are pretty tough now haha!!

Thanks, Omar

Thanks everyone  :happy2: !!! Im glad I took the plunge .. Just waiting for mfsw airbag wiring before I pop it in my mk6! Ill take pics when its in my car!!

Im not sure what I'd charge in all honesty.. materials are essentially negligible in cost so its just price for my time/effort and posting costs. Already got the tools for the job!

If anyones interested, then post up what you'd like: colour (or colours if you want 2-tone) , style of stitch ( single or double-stitch) to gauge interest.

FYI mine in pics is 2-tone double stitch. I can do double stitch in 1 colour too. For single stitch you can specify the larger or smaller zig-zag . Mine shown has silver in large zig-zag in silver and small zig-zag in red so you can have an idea of looks.

Also before I do anything, if this does go ahead, then I'll need admin's green light.

I'm right in thinking your just weaving it through the original stitching,

I'm right in thinking your just weaving it through the original stitching,

Yep. Means the mod is reversible, stitch tension not lost, leather remains uncreased, no extra perforation of leather and keeps it strong.

Just the right amount of contrast stitching IMO , I wouldnt rip out the factory stitch for the extra effort, more time and results no different and less of the above benefits.
