« on: March 22, 2014, 02:13:04 pm »
In need of this blue adapter except it needs to be the other way round if that makes sense?..

Will upload a better image that helps describe what I'm after a bit better soon

So the section thats selected in red needs to be where i've outlined the other part of the connector in green.
Hope this makes more sense when i say the connector needs to fit/plug in the opposite way round

Basically I'm trying to plug my iPod adapter into the back of my RCD300 and then pull it through the glovebox but.. where this would usually plug in.. my 6CD changer is already plugged in but there is another slot for this to plug in except it needs a blue fitting like this that is the opposite way round if that makes sense?..

you mean there is a spare slot in the quad lock connector that plugs into the back of the RCD300?

i'll do a bit of looking up and get back to you, as i think you may be getting confused with the phone connection that would fill the empty connector

well according to vw diagrams your RCD 300 can infact have 3.5mm aux in and cd changer but they all go through the blue socket , if your stereo was/ is BT compatible it would go into the empty socket next to the blue one and be coloured green

when you say ipod adapter what do you mean just a 3.5mm jack, or the mdi kit? or some other kit/equipment, does the stereo control the ipod?

I'll take a picture of the adapter i have, give me a minute or two to upload one.. Think its a genuine VW iPod adapter kit.
Yes the head unit controls the iPod.

looks to me like that would replace the cd changer, do you have any instructions with it?

pretty sure you can't have both on your stereo

Yes it would usually replace the 6CD changer but i was looking for a way to have both if possible and sorry no i do not have instructions as i got the adaptor second hand from a mate that had sourced the adaptor from another golf

as it controls the ipod it fools the stereo into thinking its the changer, so there is no simple way you can have both, potentially you could with 2 x 4 pole relays or if you could get an 8 pole one? you could switch over between the cd changer then back to the ipod but this isn't really for a novice or avid diy'er but it is doable

but short answer loose the changer

Right, that makes sense :happy2: Think i'll just go straight to taking the cd changer out and finding out what i need to replacing it with putting an iPod dock into the armrest rather than through the glovebox.

Thanks for your help
