Got a clicky cv joint on my car so thought it would of be easier to replace whole shaft rather than mess about changing the joint! Anyway got hold of another shaft from one being broken, but boot has split near the clip, still plenty of grease inside tje gaitior and on joint, so should still be fine, but want to get new boot before fitting it, anyone know part number from vw cheers

Try jandrcvjoints.co.uk, got whole drive shaft with both joints for £40, easier to fit than messing about with the boot for the money.

There's none gen ones on eBay for less than half that. Won't be much different surely?

I've found the cheaper ones fit but don't last, so if you like doing the job more often then fit the cheaper ones!
