Holiday / Roadtrip Advice
« on: March 23, 2014, 07:07:11 pm »
Hi Guys,

Me and a couple of friends fancy a road trip.

We're mainly feeling anywhere in the UK thats near a beach and typically alright weather for Mid June.

Equally we're open to abroad, ideally no further than midway down France as fuel will begin to get very expensive. Again ideally near the beach/coast.

Probably just camp somewhere so accommodation isn't a huge issue. Although a nice thought out plan would be preferred.

We road tripped to Carnac, France last year and it was decent, took a few tanks of fuel but was on the whole worth it.

Budget £200/£300 each (ish).

Any advice, previous knowledge/experience of where to go would be great.

Thanks

Dorset is lovely in summer

Various places to go but I love Swanage and Studland Bay, you could take the ferry over to Sandbanks/Poole, take a drive along the coast to Weymouth, Bridport and Lyme Regis

Fuel oddly is cheaper in the South than the North, but even more odd, at it's cheapest in central Paris.

Bounce down the West coast to the Cherbourg Peninsula. Anywhere South of that is nice enough, Biarritz if you make it that far down is excellent. Like France's version of Newquay.

Sideways yo!

If you're set on staying in the UK then I can recommend the Isle of Man  :happy2:

Yes, I know it's not technically 'part' of the UK, but it's got fantastic roads, some lovely beaches and the people are great, been a few times with the car now and loved every one

North of Scotland is fantastic for driving  :driver:

I know it's not particularly warm and not known for its beaches, but as a road trip it's pretty epic. Especially when you get north of Glasgow & Edinburgh the roads and views are amazing.

Again to be honest not dead set on anything actually,

Just want the experience again. Scotland should be a shout for the views.

been pondering this myself for easter... I reckon it's going to cost me a good £500 of fuel to get down to the alps and back again.

Cornwall/Devon is a beautiful part of the county, I'm in Swansea and you've got the whole of the gower (great for surfing) and one of the best voted beaches in Europe - Rhossili, weather will probably be typically British though haha. Also close to the Brecons, some great driving roads through there.

a bunch of my mates all went up to scotland and surrounding islands on motorbikes last year as part of a stag do, took 5 days in total, and they said it was brilliant, camped every night and from the pictures the roads looked great.
