Potential new gti owner!
« on: March 24, 2014, 10:50:50 pm »
Hi guys, I'm jake from frome in Somerset, after lots of changing my mind almost daily I think I'm gonna take the plunge n buy a mk5 gti!

Had a mk4 gti before but sold it for an e46 325i which is a nice car but just don't feel the love like I did the golf, so I'm returning to the vag side but fancied something newer.

Been reading up as much as I can on what to look for, cam followers dv's all that jazz.

I just can't get my head around the pricing some over 100k at like 7000 yet others with 70/80k at 5 grand?  :stupid:

Hopefully find the one for me soon and can spend many an hour here reading up on what to spend money on next lol

Welcome

Prices vary, that's life. You'll know when you find the right car and this will include you feeling that "the price is right". Remember that show that Leslie Crowther used to host?

I hope it doesn't take me that long, think my sister would get annoyed with me having to keep borrow her car,

It took me 18months to find mine. I wouldn't jump into it just because you're in need of a car. In the meantime I'd say get a loan of something else and don't make a bad decision out of frustration!

Again, if you don't want to hold out for a factory high spec for months & months you could always get a tidy example of a lower spec model and then retrofit the parts yourself to save money...

thats the thing on Fleabay sometimes the bogo basic cars are the same price as the specced to the nuts ones lol

Perhaps im just being unrealistic in what i want, under 80k FSH for around 6grand, when i still had the beemer there were loads spoilt for choice now ive got the ££ nothing  :sad1:

the hunt goes on dont really wanna have to get another motor as a stop gap as its just a pain when i do finally find a nice gti
