as said above im now looking at the suspension bushes.

but what would the effects be of only doing the front bushes on the car, along with the lower engine mount, whilst leaving the rear bushes as oem spec until a later date.

this would give the steering feel, but would it provide dodgy and soggy handling fromn the back end, if tyhats the case, id consider binning the lower engine mount for the time being and purely concentrating on the bushes front and rear. Im just envisaging a colossal labour cost to get all the bushes fitted front and rear.

absolutely! grip, poise are enhanced, likewise speed into corners.car has a more natural feel,no longer feeling like its front wheel drive.makes for a more  involving and ultimately rewarding drive in the dry, more so in the wet.am glad i did it after a two year wait  :happy2:

Whats the difference in the S3 bushes?  Did you replace the whole chassis set of bushes?

I think it will just be the walk type bushes as the s3 versions are stiffer

race version will be too hardcore for me..my gums will start bleeding  as i dont track but enjoy fast drives on b roads.the s3 suspension bushes will make the steering sharper and front more planted.installing all 3 mounts will make the car tighter and stronger still but will introduce more grrrr which i cant tolerate over the long run..

I did all my Mounts on my Previous vRS on the Driveway. No need for a well equipped workshop at all. Just need to have the correct tools and from memory there is nothing special.

Had the help of vRStu which made things a lot easier. Took the 2 of us about 2 hours. Just remember to have a jack that can lift the engine up a bit or you might bend some bolts like some impetuous knobber (me :ashamed:) nearly did when removing them

I have recently changed to the S3 bushes on the front of my octy and it has made a world of difference. Much better than the carp oe ones and a lot less...£25 for the bushes and a mate to fit them :happy2:  See how you get on and then see about the rears as it may be overkill and a waste of money better spent elsewhere doing the both.
