RCD510 faults
« on: March 17, 2014, 08:35:59 pm »
Hi all,
I'm having issues with the rcd510 installed on my car,
First one is a message that says internal cd device error and won't accept CDs and second is similar but refers to the sd card slot, I've tried the sd card in my mates Tiguan which also has rcd510 and it works fine. Any ideas what it could be and are they repairable?
Thanks

It sounds like you have a CD stuck in there. Or unit thinks there is a CD stuck in there.

If there is a CD stuck in there try pressing the eject button while at the same time inserting a cd and flicking it upwards. You only need to insert the CD in to the slot a couple of mm, not all the way :)

Thanks for the input chaps, but from what I have researched and tried with my car, I think the ribbon may have snapped, as it makes no noise when trying to insert a CD.
Also its not in deactivation mode as I have tried that also. Still unsure about the sd card reader again could be a faulty reader. I'm trying to find a guide to repair it but struggling really....

I might get rid and buy something else
