probs since cam follower change
« on: March 27, 2014, 08:51:01 pm »
my car has a problem when not fully warmed up, at around 20k revs when accelerating the whole car seems to shake, judder, its hard to explain it lasts till about 30k revs then its stops and then once warmed up its fine through all the revs.
ive just realised after changing the spark plugs etc that it all started after i replaced the cam follower. im not sure what the follower actually does but could it be related to the probs im having? also no faults on vcds

You would blow your engine well before 20k revs.  :scared:
Was your previous cam follower ok when you replaced it?
Sounds to me like you may have a coil pack issue. As you have vcds, do some live logging of blocks 015 and 016 to see if you're getting a misfire.

Did you log when stationary or on the move?

Any VCDS stored faults at engine ecu? Is your manual or dsg?
What you are describing sounds bit like dual mass flywheel starting to fail..

Did you get any muck in the fuel lines whilst changing the follower?

I had the same issue, it would do it when cold only at 2-3k. You can log the misfires on a counter in VCDS which won't show as a fault code if there's not enough misfires to trip the EML.

I fixed mine when I went K04, I presume changing the injectors fixed it.
