Hmm, thinking on with that, I wonder if the new S3/Golf R brakes would fit too?
Golf R gone.

Does anyone know if they are better or lighter than an R32/S3 setup?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

From what I could tell the mk7R discs are 345mm.  The calipers look lighter and the pads look different than the r32 ones.

Not sure they will fit the mk5/6 unless the hub it the same.

And the fact there is very little chance of finding any on the market for a while  :sad1:

There's no point anyway even if they do fit. R32s are so cheap now.

I'm not looking the absolute performance but I was thinking maybe they've done some improvements on weight, pedal feel etc.

They fit without problem. They are 340mm. I can source new kits (red GTI or black S3) if anyone is interested.

Are the mk7R brakes 340mm too?

Yes, Golf R mk7 has same brakes just black with R badge. I have seen just red GTI, black S3 and unpainted without badge kits.

Rumour has it the 340mm performance pack discs are the same as TTs ones? Would be interested to know a price on the PP gti calipers in red as they could give quite a weight saving over the 'old' R32 calipers?  :happy2:
