thinking of removing my air con?
« on: October 23, 2013, 10:16:07 am »
Hi guys,
My air con pipe split so I now have no air con....
I've been trying to find a used ac pipe but it's proving hard...be want 186+vat  :signLOL:

I'm stripping the interior out and making the car lighter, I now have a corsa company car so use will be for fun only really.

So I'm thinking about taking it all out...but I have some concerns.
Heat~doesn't bother me too much but would be nice too keep it although I hardly use it before.
Main one is misting up inside the car, this winds me up  :signLOL: when it rains the car mists up as when it's cold etc. Air con sorts this out and fast..
Does anyone have any advice?
Reason for removal would be save weight and power?
Is it worth it?
Cheers
Jack

Removed it on my mk2 rs and didn't have prob but that has a heated screen, I've just took it out on my ed30 aswell

Unless ur serious about stripping the car and its only a toy I wouldn't bother

it's always been an idea too do it. Now it's broke unless I can find the required pipe I was planning on just removing it all.
Only thing in my mind is weather the misting up buisness will drive me mad and weather it is worth it for gains etc
I'm taking the rear seats out. Light Weight buckets, light brakes and wheels and a few alloy parts underneath.

I'm kind of thinking brakes and wheels are required either way...
Interior and seats can be put back In Pretty easily

Can't you look for one off of a Standard GTI / Ed30 in a breakers yard somewhere near you? See how much they want for it?
