Camber wear

Hi guys,

Just a quick one with my mot coming up, my rear tyres have camber wear, So I flipped them so the wear is on the edge of the outside, the tread across the middle of the tyre is still legal, just wondering if these will pass an mot?

If they are above the wear markers then yes they should pass

Even if one edge is pretty much completely bald? Thanks for the quick reply man, just wanted to double check!

If one edge is bald then they will fail... or at least the should fail

Yes a fail and another thing to remember is if your swapping tyres around make sure they ain't directional tyres because swapping tyres to the other side will mean the tyre isn't rotating the way it should (if directional) and that will fail a mot to.

they are directional tyres, but it was only the 2 rears that needed flipping, just swapped the sides of the car they were on, so they are still spinning the right way :)

Why...? The camber would make the same (worn) part of the tyre is in contact with the road.

Still fine to pass the mot if very low on the edge.  As long as they is 3/4 thread then they should pass.

Thanks man, i think I'm just gonna go to the garage and ask if they'll pass as they are, as the inside tread is fine, just the camber wear. If not ill just change the wheels before my MOT

You have positive camber? If it's on the outside of the tyre it's not camber wear.

Ohhh, I get you.
That works as long, as mentioned, the tyre is not designed to only be ran in one direction.
