Done one side by undoing the bottom bolt any knocking the carrier round like a pivot and I can squeeze the disc out but the other side, the bottom bolt won't even budge!

I have the same problem, managed the passenger side rear but not the drivers side rear. Ive booked it in at my mates garage tomorrow morning to let him deal with it haha. It will be 10x easier on the ramps. If he uses any tricks tomorrow I will post back. I really dont get why a hex headed bolt couldnt of been used, probably so you take it back to them to do.

I had the same problem, I just couldn't get enough leverage to crack the bit off, popped it to a local garage to get it up in the ramp, used a jack handle as a big breaker bar to crack it off, then drive it back home to do the rest of the work. Only cost a couple of beers

I'm not familiar with golfs yet but any nut metal to metal that's too tight heat is needed ie blow lamp
