Hi,
About 8 months ago I decided I'd finally had enough of my rubbish 1.4L Pug 207 so I chopped it out for a 2.0TDI, with the intention of just keeping it as it was. I've got a couple of photos from when I first got it but as I said I wasn't planning on modding it at all let alone joining a forum about it so they're not great. Its an '06 plate and when I bought it, it had just over 62K on the clock.
So I was pretty chuffed with it, loved how comfortable it was and the performance/handling was night and day different from the the Peugeot. Then a mate of mine called me up saying that his next door neighbour had bought a GTI front end for his MK5 and then 3 days before it was due to go to the bodyshop had written the car off, he wondered if I was interested in the bumper so I went round and saw it and before I knew it this had happened
By the way the Fogs were fitted soon after haha.
So now I had the bug, I wanted to modify it more but sadly money and other stuff got in the way until a couple of months ago when I finally bit the bullet and got an R32 rear bumper and Exhaust fitted. The bumper isn't OEM and the Exhaust is nothing fancy like a Miltek as I didn't stand a chance of getting a OEM bumper in Graphite Blue so I had to add painting costs into the total cost of getting it done and it would have been too much to go OEM and Miltek. However I'm still very pleased with the result:
Then very quickly afterwards I realised I needed 4 new tyres, I knew all along I really needed 2 but with the MOT fast approaching I could really do with getting all 4 changed. So I though it was now or never if I was going to mate the jump to 18" wheels, after looking around for about 5 days I was looking on Ebay and saw these Genuine BBS rims with 4 tyres pirelli tyres which all had good tread and no damage, then after a bit more of a look it turns out the guy selling them lived about 10 doors down from me and owned the local Superchips dealership and VAG Specialist Garage, so I went round to see the wheels a deal was struck and he even fitted them for me!
So thats as far as I've got so far but I thought I'd start a little thread for those who are interested. Now since I've joined this forum my list of future mods has grown exponentially haha (thanks you guys) so things I'm planning:
Superchips Remap (more power
)
Lowering of some sort, not a massive drop but just enough to reduce the arch gaps, not sure about whether to use springs or coilies.
RNS 510 install with all the canbus stuff to go along with it.
Respray CD/AC surround to match other internal trim.
Possibly an Exhaust upgrade.
Then once the DMF and Clutch need doing it'll be Darkside Developments time
One other thing, unfortunately I had a small run in with a Lorry wing mirror which had fallen into the middle of the road, which unfortunately I hit and it then flicked up and caught the underside of the driver's side door cill just below the bottom of the door. So this month I'll probably get some GTI side skirts, smooth them down and have them sprayed and painted.
