Fitted rcd510...
« on: February 23, 2014, 08:22:22 pm »
Just fitted my rcd510 stereo, bought mdi cable of ebay,
Realised the cable has no where to plug im on the headunit, after searching through previous posts,
Im i right in saying i need to install a wiring loom??
Or ive come across the plug on ebay 111259382497
All i want is my track names to be displayed on the screen and to be able to skip tracks via the stereo
Cheers

Got the rcd510 unit,
Upgraded my can gateway
And got a mdi lead of ebay, but when i went to fit it there was no where for the lead to plug into on back of my headunit!
So im presuming i need some sort of wiring harness for the mdi lead to go into?

what you have is an extension lead

to fit an MDI you need

MDI Loom > MDI Box (armrest type or Glovebox type) > Ipod / USB Lead

so to fit an mdi you need the MDI box and MDI loom

I have MDI looms & MDI Glovebox Boxes

Go with the glove box one as above it fits perfectly and the light can be moved leaving a nice slot for the MDI socket
