Fuel filter

Hi all, was about to order a cheap fuel filter of ebay, but did
A quick google search and come across a forum saying theres two types of fuel filter???
Different bar rating filters
One that rated 4 and the other 4.6??
Anybody else heard this?

This ^^^ and the part number is 1K0201051K assuming you have a gti

Well worth changing, despite VW saying they are not a serviceable item. I changed the original one yesterday on my mk4 R32 and had black silt running out of it when I upended it. I will be changing the mk5 gti one today.

Changing mine, due to the car randomly cutting out!! So starting with basics, its not thrown up engine light.
Car has been serviced in past at vw,  then at local garages after, but carnt always guarantee  they change all filters!!

I asked a friend at VW and according to their systems the fuel filter will only ever be chances if it fails from rust etc. Never as part of a service. Daft really

That's because VW life of a vehicle is 7 to 10 years so they never put it on the regime. Same as BMW say the transmission oil in a 7 series never needs changing but now as there is high mileage older cars they use changed their minds.

Hopefully its just the fuel filter thats at fault, be cleaning throttle body next!
