4 wheel drive
« on: April 04, 2014, 06:06:48 pm »
I am starting to get board of my ed30 now and would like to do something different. I am already running revo 2+ and fancy a loba turbo but I was wondering how easy is it to fit s3 running gear i.e. rear diff and suspension I have had a look round and its not very clear. is it just a matter of bolt on or do I need to cut channelling out and how easy is it to get the haldex working correctly
cheers tom

It has been done on here by one or 2 people one on a Leon and one on a golf. I think you need to get rid of the spare wheel well and fit an r32 fuel tank, I think the exhuast might need altering as well to take a different route

Just buy an S3 or golf R mate I would think that would be a lot easier but I'm sure someone will be along soon to explain more about the ways in which to mount the haldex if it's possible  :happy2:

its not too difficult my mate fitted it 2 his on his drive using axle stands and a jack.... you don't have 2 cut the whole spare wheel well out just a piece of it  :happy2:

For the hassle id rather spend the money modifying the car to 4wd and buy an evo, which already has 4wd and easily tuned to get plenty of power. I would never alter the car that much as it would lose massive value on resale when it comes time to part with it. Unless you plan on keeping it another 3 to 4 years to benefit from the money invested in the mod.

Must admit its something I'd love to do,

I've looked into it

Complete rear axle, transfer box, exhaust fuel tank and pump, abs unit, wiring loom, coding to do with the clocks, boot floor removal, it's a lot of work getting the system to work,

You better off buying an r32 and sticking the 2.0tfsi in that.

It's not worth it in a stage one car, would just slow it down, if they car was getting to hurdys sort of power then maybe.

This... really, really don't see the point... all that cost, effort and depreciation!
