No it can't mate, but honestly its easier removing door card than mirror, also top tip use blue tack on the end of your torx driver to stop 2 of the bolts falling into the door, or its the outta skin off to retrieve them :-)

Nah you need to remove the door card but it's not that difficult....it can't be as I managed it. Probably best doing a search for golf mk5 door card removal on Google as that's what I did and I'm sure it was an American forum that had a step by step guide.
