Chris-182's Reflex Silver GTI - Update 03/02
« on: April 05, 2014, 03:30:56 pm »
I've had my GTI about 6 weeks now so thought I get a project thread started!

It is a 2005 with full dealer / specialist history on 67k

Before this, as you may have guessed I had a clio 182.

Absolutely brilliant car! So much fun to drive, and is as quick as a lot of cars that you just wouldn't expect it would keep up with.
Anyone who thinks French cars are crap need to take one of these out for a drive.

Anyway, back to the golf. I managed to pick one up with a fair few extras;
Monza II's
Xenons
Auto wipers & Lights
Coming home lights
MFSW
Bluetooth (no idea how to get it working)
Charcoal headlining (Is this standard on all gti's?)
cooled glove box (Is this standard?)

on to the crappy I phone pictures!

So far I have had the cam-belt & water pump changed and I have bought a new tailgate handle (not the one in the pictures)

Plans are to replace the cam follower and DV with a rev G first followed by some other goodies that I will update as I go along :)

Looks really tidy and you got some really nice extras there, its worth remembering that heated wing mirrors was also part of the pack that the auto lights/wipers came in so you should have those too.

Also its had the lower valance colour coded which is a nice bonus, really completes the look of the car in my opinion   :happy2:

thanks! yeah it has the heated wing mirrors too, I forgot about that.

yeah the colour coding is something I would have done myself so a nice bonus that this one has already been done!

Had the GTI in at Tuning Developments over the weekend while I was over in the Emerald isle

Quite a bit of work done:
Front Mount Intercooler & Hard Pipework
Rev G Diverter Valve
Replaced Cam Follower
Replaced PVC Valve with the newest version
H&R Springs
Live Remap

Before the work the car made 163 BHP and 183 LBFT due to the boost leaks from the DV and the s**tty intercooler pipes. Once the everything was fitted and the map was done it made 230 BHP and 300 LBFT. So quite a difference! Feels like a whole different car, There is power no matter what gear you are in and no matter where you are in the rev range. Money well spent im sure you will agree!

Very pleased with the figures it has achieved as the rolling road at TD is known as the Heartbreaker lol. So you know the figures you are getting are the ones the car is making unlike other rollers!

Next on the list is a RARB and Polybushes all round.

The Polybush kit was about £130 iirc. I dunno have much fitting is gonna be till its done haha. My mates at Tuning Developments are fitting them so i will let you know how much it all came to on Tuesday  :drinking:

Somehow my rear arb snapped too but i've managed to bag an ED30 one for £27 delivered. (i'd have got a whiteline etc but that will have to wait till i've bought my tyres / polybushes etc)
