Kenwood DNX525 Update
« on: February 27, 2016, 03:40:52 pm »
My DNX525 has started popping up saying I need to update my maps.  I've just tried to do so but upon doing that it has now said it needs the firmware updating, I have tried to update it doing it by the instructions but nothing is happening.

Does anybody know the correct way of putting the files onto a USB stick, like is there a correct folder route to take?

Many thanks

I've checked and it does say FAT32, I love it! I had a RNS510 before it and the sound quality is much better, plus it has all the added extras from the box!

Just download and unzip them. Put them on USB stick not in any folders... I just brought a cheap small capacity one for updates...

Press MENU on headunit, Tap SETUP, Tap SOFTWARE, it should find the updates on the USB stick...

Bit weird but the system firmware on my DNX525DAB is newer than whats available for download?! (Version 1.7.0)

Can't fault the unit, only cost £699 brand new from a SEAT dealership on ebay, just a few small niggles one being still no DAB radio artwork, does anyone know how to get it to display? I've done a Google search and other owners on other VW Forums can't get it to display either, just a picture of a radio mast with "No Photo" text?

Ah okay, I was putting the files into a folder first.

So just have a clean stick and then put the files onto that?

I have artwork for a couple of obscure stations, but it's very sporadic!

Yep, do that blank stick - unzipped files onto it and everything should go ok!

I did a rescan for the DAB stations at the top of a multistory carpark, thought I'd have at least got the BBC stations artwork but nothing!!! On any of them! I was going to message Kenwood about the DAB art but from what I hear they don't seem to know much about the products they're selling!

Cheers mate, I shall try that tomorrow.

I know, I messaged them about the rear view camera and I just got a standard reply of, 'It has an input for a RVC'  no information or anything!
