something to do with the crankcase check valve maybe? to be honest i did run it open for a day until i realised, but after that everything was ok. it was a week after and when i removed it the problem started??

i ran it for a week, why would leaving the drain off open cause my problem?

It shouldn't as you would effectively just be running a "vent to atmosphere" set up but will a slight loss of boost.

I would suggest somethings gone wrong with your install, then when you tried to revert to normal its persisted.
oil out of the cap is a symptom not the cause. somethings the wrong way round pressurising your crankcase.
Im sure the dealer will sort it out. no worries

of note be careful you dont run out of oil in the meantime!

I drove all the way to Germany with the tap open and ran fine with no loss of Boost whatsoever!  :innocent:

Sounds like the valve is the wrong way around/stuck?? I'd have expected it to p*** oil down the inlet, rather than back up and blow out of the cap.

Crawl there ASAP.
Sideways yo!

ok just thinking here, if i blew down the pipe from the inlet manifold to the rocker cover should there be some resistance or not because i did and there was no resistance it was as free as a bird

So what have VW said? If this as you say is an issue with the PCV fix we all have I for one would like to know. If not we need to clear this matter up.  :happy2:
