Weston Performance - who are you really dealing with?
« on: October 12, 2009, 05:06:21 pm »
Hiya guys,

Basically over on R32OC a rolling road day was organised for September at Weston Performance.

Unit 10 Drayton Rd
Solihull
West Midlands

A deposit was agreed to be paid to be sure that those people who said would go actually wood. But unfortunately the even fell through becuase there were not enough people signed up to do it. Here is the thread of R32OC:

http://www.r32oc.com/midlands/13826-gti-vs-r32-weston-performance-rr-day-2009-a.html

Well basically its now been three weeks and nobody has recieved the refund for the rolling road day, even though they have our card details, phone numbers etc. Let alone failing to call people back and say a refund would be done that day but in the end havent done so yet.

Resolutions for Winding-up

WESTON PERFORMANCE LIMITED

(Company Number 05466706)

At a Special Meeting of the members of the above-named Company duly convened and held at 111 Hagley Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 8LB on 20 May 2008 at 10.30am, the following Special Resolution was duly passed:

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this Meeting that the Company resolves by Special Resolution that it be wound up voluntarily, and that Mrs Eileen T F Sale, of Sale Smith & Co Limited, Carmella House, 3 & 4 Grove Terrace, Walsall, West Midlands WS1 2NE, be and is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.”

P Weston, Chairman

Bt what get me the most is the rubness of the owner, this is my conversation with him earlier today:

Quote
Them - ''hello westons''

Me - ''hello im just ringing up to get my refund from the r32oc rolling road day''

Them - ''who is it'' (aggressive)

Me - ''andrew barnett''

Them - ''oh you have already rung up today havent you''

Me - ''yes, and was told i would be rung back within 10 - 15 minutes and that was at 10.15''

Them - ''i received the message and passed it onto the relavent person to deal with''

Me - ''okay but i have been told that already over 3/4 times already but nothing has happened''

Them - ''well thats pretty sad then isnt it if thats all you have to worry about is the £45, it will be done when its done so stop rining and dont ring back'' To which he promptly put the phone down

Im only posting this to let people make their own minds about the company and if they would deal with them?

Hi Pomme, good to see you mate - I had all this crap with them for the past 3 weeks. Have passed on to trading Standards and hopefully my card provider is going to start a dispute on my behalf although they don't hold out a huge amount of hope. In a word everyone, don't use Weston Performance, look slike they are suffering financial hard ship - the companies house checks against them are an interesting read. Thanks for posting on here - think it is myself and Gadget that have money outstanding from them. Have pretty much written off any hope of seeing the £45 again - I feel like going up to Birmingham to confront face to face but it would cost me the £45 to do so. However, it is the underlying principle.

IMHO a refund is looking doubtful - have been on to the for 3 weeks trying to get one, been fobbed off on phone everytime until last time the owner, Paul actually put the phone down on me as I was talking. They're clearly not interested. Crazy really as one of the R32 guys is going to put up a site about them, will not be hard to get it ranked up their with Google on par with their official site. It's crazy that an alledgly good company does this - they are hardly going to win any business now are they!

You used them before Greenhouse haven't you?

Its really sad to hear that in the current climate where customer service and reputation are the main reasons for us (enthusiasts) using a particular business that people are getting treated this way.

If they owe money they should pay up...simple as. :fighting:

I can't see that it does their business any good at all. It simply puts out the word on the grapevine not to use them and makes their business turnover/profit even worse.

Golf R gone.

Have I missed something or does the first post not state that the company is gonna be going into liquidation anyway so there is no point for them to try and retain cutomers?

Cheers for the kind comments guys as i really hate threads like this. But as has been said its the principle and all i have been to them is courteous and firendly but after that final phone call today, i am going to make sure that there name is mud and they dont deal again in the future under a different name which is what they have done so in the past.

....

Their attitude stinks even if they are going into liquidation whether it be voluntary or involuntary. But I have to say that I'm not very surprised! At the time we had a joint forum dyno day there over a year ago I had a turbo boost problem - I was shocked at the time how they repeatedly totally trashed JKM's work and approach and how they kept going on about some guy they had who was the best in the country etc. My strong impression was that they're not nice people and this confirms my view. Good riddance to them I say!

that publication was May 2008...rather long time ago and they're still trading so i guess its since been dismissed.

but from what you guys are saying its classic cashflow crisis and they are pretty much on last legs and about to go under.

credit card companies should refund you as a service has not been provided.

makes you think twice about paying up front for a RR sesh eh.

Pay on the day is the way to go.

Yes and if you do digging you will see that there are further companies house listings for the new company, actions date to June 2009. Quite a history!

And I expect that, unfortunately, those who have paid for a rolling-road session will be waaaay down on any list of creditors. :sad1:

Indeed Dom, the same RR day that Robin attended. It did seem odd when we were there last as a guy came to pick up a car that had been there months and he didn't seem happy.

I hope you guys get your money back one way or another! If not maybe a forum group visit may be in order! Strength in numbers and all that!  :happy2:
