Replacing MFD2 & Parrot 3200LS with RCD510 & VW Bluetooth
« on: April 10, 2014, 02:23:00 pm »
Hi all,

Looking for a few pointers on this subject. I have the MFD2 and Parrot 3200LS Bluetooth set up in the car, it was installed by the previous owner.

What I'd like to do is update the stereo with an RCD510 DAB and have the OEM Bluetooth fitted at the same time.

The car also has the armrest iPod dock, and MFSW.

Sat Nav is not important hence going for RCD510 over the RNS510.

I've already checked with Eddie NL and my gateway is OK. The aerial is the shark fin style for the existing Nav.

What I'd like further info on is what is needed to make all this work aside from the stereo itself. From what I've read elsewhere on the forum, I'll need a Bluetooth module. Will I need any specific cables? Will the MFSW work (including phone buttons)? And will the current armrest iPod Dock work with it?

Also, can you stream music via Bluetooth to the RCD510?

Oh, and can anyone recommend someone in North Kent or Essex area to remove and install all this kit?

Any/all advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

For completeness, what you will need.
RCD510-DAB (make sure it's not one of the cheap chinese units being sold on ebay.
Fakra ariel adapter (about £7 off ebay)
Vw 7P6 Bluetooth adapter and wiring kit (approx £200 off ebay but also check the classifieds)
Vw/VAG GPS/FM/AM/DAB shark fin antenna (approx £60)
Ariel extension lead to run from shark fin to head unit, about 6m

Can't think of anything else.

Buttons will work on your MFSW, not sure if the iPod kit will work but you will be able to play music off a SD card or by Bluetooth, if using the latter be aware it will be mono.

Thanks for the summary.  Had no idea the VW BT unit would be so expensive.

For that sort of money does the Fiscon Basic Plus make more sense?
