Boring people

How do you deal with boring people? People who just talk about nothing for hours on end, when no one is listening. What's the best line of attack?

Do a fake yawn really loudly?

Talk over the top of them?

Ask them to STFU?

My old TL was the most boring c**t ever, he constantly gave everyone a running commentary of what he was doing. Even after a few polite hints he kept doing it, so in the end i just asked him to shut his noise before I lost my rag.

Personally, I try to ignore them. Glaze over, look distant, say little, and they might get the message.

Just asking - how is this person boring? Just by talking trash for the sake of making noise, or just a genuine dull, un-charismatic person? We have the latter as a new manager at work - staff morale has evaporated as a result...

I've just started walking away from the guy that's in the unit next door.  Heard every story about 10 times now. If he has bugger all to do he thinks it's acceptable to waste my time chatting bollocks.

Most frustrating thing ever. Guy at work does it, and while I love cars he can trap you talking about every single element of his old cars for hours on end.

I just have to politely excuse myself. I can lose 30-40minutes at work.
