iPod cables
« on: April 12, 2014, 10:05:04 am »
So my ed30 came with the iPod docking in the arm rest, I have a vw cable  up it won't fit as the cable comes out at a 45degree angle. Is there other cables vw do or a way to fix it ?

im guessing you have an MDI lead. VW don't make any "standard iPod dock" leads. if you can post a pic i can confirm for you
MDI Armrest & Glovebox kits
MDI looms , iPod, USB & lightening Iphone 5 leads
Armrests, cloth and leather
Retro fit Armrest 6 CD changer/Ipod dock kits

I have just the standard head unit , 310 I think ?

So there's no cable that will attach at all , I need a new console part ?

If you just have the standard head unit it's an RCD300. You have very limited options for iPod attachment  on the head unit

You can buy an easy to use and install iPod connector that allows for Head unit controls... Xcarlink, Connects2 and VW all make one around £80.

RCD 510 is worth a look, if you get a good sized SD card it's just like having a big iPod touch built into the dashboard. Can be had quite cheaply of eBay these days.
