Sachs sre clutch first feel
« on: April 12, 2014, 11:09:10 am »
I just got my sre clutch installed. The first feel, beside the much harder pedal, is a small vibration when starting from standing still. It's like an abrasive slip, not smooth as stock. I mention that gear engaging is fine at slow-medium revs. WOT I didn't experienced since the clutch is new.
Should I get worried from that slip vibration when slowly taking off? Or it's normal due to the sport clutch nature, material and because it's completely new.

Perfectly normal.
I've had 2 of them and both done this. The first car done it for about 500 miles and the second car nearly 1000 miles then it just disappears
Perfectly normal and no need to worry. I'm going to buying one for my S3 as they are a great kit for fast road everyday use.
Apart from a slightly heavier pedal there's no other downside.

The material isn't completely flat when they are made, so takes some miles to bed in.

You just saved the mechanic life  :notworthy:. Just kidding but I was kind of worried that I'm on the way to waste a new clutch due to bad install.

I'm using now the stock dual mass flywheel. If let's say in the near future I decide to replace it with the Sachs single mass flywheel what else do I need to replace also (clutch, cover, cylinder)?

I'm sure the cover and the plate are different for single mass.
Enjoy how quiet the dmf setup is, I've heard a few smf on tfsi and personally I couldn't live with it.
