Morning People
« on: October 14, 2009, 08:48:36 am »
Hi Everyone,

Just thought i'd introduce myself, I'm Rob from Wolverhampton! I'm currently looking to purchase a newer car over the next few months and the gti is something that i've been toying with, especially the ED30.

Picking up the knowledge from all your posts, including different changes between model years and options available has given me an idea of what im looking for. If the right car comes up available then i will jump at it

Would love to go for the MK6 R20  when made available to the UK, but looking at  the german site and choosing spec on the car and seeing it come to €44,000  :surprised: i think i would rather buy a used ed30 for cash than take a lot on finance!

Cheers,

Rob

thanks for the welcome, you seem to have some good banter on here. Completely different to VXRonline where threads go completely off topic

I cant wait to find one, any good options to definitely go for?

Make sure it has highline, not particularly an expensive option but a good one. RNS510 satnav is highly sought after along with Xenons. Multi function steering wheel is also a nice touch. Mine had neither  :sad1:

The SatNav and MFSW can be retro fitted so I wouldn't worry too much about those. The highline costs about £500 iirc which it was a £50 extra  :scared: and the Xenons are pretty expensive to retro fit.

Didn't do my research before hand.

I see another member coming from VXROnline has found there way over here, welcome  :happy2:

Excuse my thickness but what is a highline as i've heard it mentioned so much! If i cant find one with the RNS510 that would be a retrofit!

Cheers

Its the screen in between the Speedo and Rev counter, the highline is the full length screen and midline is half screen.

With the highline, it will display your phone book if you have bluetooth with the satnav...does quite a few things the midline can't.

Personally if I were to get another, which I would funds permitting, I wouldn't consider one without it.

You going for DSG or Manual?
