what to look out for with dsg ?

I'm looking for a gt TDI dsg at the moment and read lots of horror stories about them failing.
What should I be looking out for when test driving ?

I also thought that about the DSG but I believe its a few people who have had bad ones which has created the myth,in a years ownership of a DSG I can honestly say I may struggle to go back to a manual,also the added bonus is you can if you wish to add extra power without worrying about the clutch.

Having the stamps for correct servicing of the DSG is essential,look for oil and filter receipts as well,every 40k iirc

My mate swears by DSG , its him that has put me on to getting one as he has just ordered a new GT TD DSG , hes owned them before
My last experience of an Auto was in 1984 !!  probably given away my age now 
I did think that most of the time all you will read are the horror stories

I'll never go back to manual now, except in my drift car as Nissan don't have a dsg box for old 200sx's... Even if the mechatronics were to fail its not much worse than having to replace & upgrade the clutch in a manual.

The 40k oil changes are the main thing to look out for. If looked after it should treat you well and won't need the clutch doing like a manual would

there arent lots of horror story's about DSG Golfs, far from it in fact (there are problems to be found if you look at the early TT 3.2 V6's autos but that has nothing to do with the golf DSG box).

Just check the history includes the 45k  DSG services.

I've had a couple of high mileage Golf DSG's (ie over 100k miles) and no DSG issues.
