Edition 30 BBS wheel corrosion problem.
« on: May 25, 2014, 11:48:18 am »
Just wondering if any of you lads with edition 30 BBS wheels have had any problems with corrosion on the inner rim of the alloy wheel.

I got 2 front tyres fitted a week ago and all they have done since is drop in pressure about 5 psi a day. Took it back to the garage and the inside of the rim is badly corroded so there was no chance of getting a seal.

I'm getting the wheels refurbished next week anyway but was just wondering if it's a common thing.

Something to look out for next time you get your tyres changed anyway.

Not had any issue with the wheels loosing pressure. I do have corrosion on the inner rim and paint is flaking from behind the spokes, so I am looking to get them refurbed shortly. Just trying to find an OEM finish, 'Midland car care' have quoted £210. DMR have refurbed a few recently in OEM finish, but I can't get in touch with them.

looks like there was moisture in the tyre , which is why they are using nitrogen in lots of places now

Moisture in the tyre sounds like a good explanation. Yeah it's all nicely full of nitro now so I'll keep an eye on the pressures over the next week.

The car had only done 10k in last 3 Years so I think the tyres have been on ages. I dread to think how long the rear tyres have been on the rims. I had to bash them off with a mallet and wood to free them from the hubs.
