My driver's side dropped off at 70mph on the dual carriageway on holiday...bloody annoying driving without one for a week. Got a genuine one for £39 on fleabay after checking with the stealers. Realised after fitting my mirrors had never worked properly (ie Passengers moves in sync with drivers when adjusting driver's side) Thought it was a fault until I looked it up

When this happened to me i bought the whole glass+plastic backing for £22 from ECP.

Use the electric mirros to turn the mirror towards the car and the put a screwdriver between the back of the black plastic and your mirror casing.

(I put a cloth of some description between the screwdriver and the casing to prevent damage)

Then gently push the black plastic away from the casing and it should pop out, then replace with the new glass/plastic by just clipping back it.

Job done

Didn't spot this thread but I had exactly the same issue a couple of months ago. Just bought some cheap mirror glass of eBay and replaced it. Nice to know I wasn't the only one with the problem
