Sorry to see the Golf going, but you'll definitely enjoy the 335d!

Get yourself over to www.e90post.com, an excellent forum for BMW's, where there are many 335d owners who will be only too glad to share their knowledge on how to extract more power from the beast!

For remapping, Evolve or DMS are the popular companies used. Enjoy your new car!

Love the 335d, drove one which had a DTUK tuning box on it and the amount of torque would rip your neck off   Great cars but an old mans car! I've recently taken in a 330i which is quick and a bargain at only  :surprised: £17k i'm was very tempted. I'm just looking forward to getting my hands on a ED30 tbh now

nice, my mum used to have the same car, same colour. She now has a white m3,

I did like your tdi though!

Nice, i'd have an M3 if i didn't do silly miles

Thanks, i still get to see the Golf, a friend brother is having it  :happy2:

Congrats from what I hear the 335d doesn't hang around. Nice to see you've moved up mate well done :happy2:

Thanks, TBH i missed my S4 (B6), and the 335d will be a happy meduim between econ and power

i wanted a 325D instead of the golf but they are holding used prices very well at the mo and just couldnt strech my budget!

I had a quick go in a 525d the other day, just because i could, drove well -nice cars.

very nice car the 335d is a missile , and the remap route is open to you as well
enjoy  :happy2:

Already on the case remap-wise ...... 350bhp 500lbs/ft

Enjoy the new car but make sure you pop in from time to time and say hello!  :drinking:

Thanks, and of course - good forum this  :drinking:

as said, proper german missile, you'll love it

you'll miss us lot if you wander off though  :drinking:

 :happy2:

A lovely replacement, hope you enjoy it!  :happy2:  :congrats:

Thankyou, i'll try  :happy2:
It's only another work shunter, but a nice one

Nice one mate, looking at 335i myself (none of that devils fuel!)  :signLOL:

With the second hand prices for these 335i's/335d's im still amazed a lot of people opt for S3's as i can see much in it after a map?

Has to be a white one for me!

Yeah, they offer great value for money / performance 2nd hand

I wasn't too bothered about colour, more spec and miles

TBH, real world driving they offer the same perfromance 335i and 335d. Just the d has better econ. The engine doesn't have 'that' diesel sound either  :signLOL:

I looked at a few of these before going for my S3 but it would have looked as though I was driving my dads car!  :chicken:

When i was 22 i had a 400bhp Evo 6, then an Audi S4 (B6) @ 26......i've had all the "ya borrowed it off ya dad" comment, water off a duck back tbh  :P

Glad we cleared that one up

S3 - Grantourer
R32 - Bus
335i - awesome
Diesels - suck

I dissagree about the diesel suck comment tbh, they have come along way - i think you'd be suprised by  some on the road

I wonce ad a Deisel and it sownded lik a skelington aving a Jodrell in a biscit tin!

R32's are Grand tourers - Fact!  The grass grows quicker!
S3 (turbo charged car) - Hot hatch!

Even my 2.0TDi doesn't sound 'that' clatery dieselesque.

The BMW sounds just like a petrol really.

Thankfully, the gold will be going to a good home.

I'll get to see it regularly lol

Already on E90post, good forum aswell.

I'm thinking of going down the evolve route at the moment - but i'm open to change ;)

DMS, awesome! lol im a DMS groupie!

They do have a seemly good reputation

I had a DTUK tuning box (red box) CRD2) on my astravan, from 120bhp for 190bhp.....good option.
The guy is a nice, forum name of Abyss, he has a 335d now also

Already on E90post, good forum aswell.

I'm thinking of going down the evolve route at the moment - but i'm open to change ;)

Can only speak from experience by saying Evolve will definitely look after you. I went up there for their dyno day a few months ago, and was suitably impressed. Imran & the other guys are a good bunch of lads.

Andy from DTUK is very helpful too, had a couple of boxes from him in the past.

Whats your username on e90post? I'm still on there as webby318dEMS.

Nice! Infact very nice.

Good choice I think there Tom, I was looking at them after you mentioned it the other day. Theres literally nothing you can fault them for on paper.

But.... arent they all auto's? Is that only the brand spankers?

Yeah, all the 335d's are auto with tiptronic padel shift.

The 335d's have the newer style ZF auto box, alot more direct shifting, not like the 535d's that have quite a long wooley shift.

good friend of mine had a 535d when they came out, not silly fast but the torque!!! would imagine in a 3 series with a map would be silly!!! nice choice :happy2: they struggle to crack 30 mpg though which always seemed to defy the object of a diesel to me, but some love diesel engines and it is the best i think.

The thing is with them, if you want to, you can get 500+ on a tank. 75-80 on the motorway will easily return a great mpg. Giving it a spirited drive will return 28-30 mpg. For a car as heavy as the 5, with all the toys, and 300+ bhp, in my eyes that's a pretty impressive all round car. I can only assume in the 3 series it's evenbetter

90 quid to fill!!! im not bashing it jay, its a great engine, i would prefer a 330ci which will get same mpg but have the feel and sound of a petrol, although the diesel would kill it i know.

With a semi-spirited extended test drive of this car i hit 32mpg, no lower.

When my 2.0DTi 170 golf was standard on a simmilar drive i only got around 34/34mpg - and the type of power is totally different.

The 535d is 272bhp, old style g/box (make a difference) where as the 335d's are 286bhp, alot better mapping and a more eficiant g/box.

Agreed, once mapped, fuel efficiancy increases as does the power - depending on choice of mapping from 340bhp to 360bhp and 500lbs/ft to 550lbs/ft. (550lbs/ft being limited by the gearbox)

Like you say, it sould be a good all round work stead as well as making it a fun drive out of hours

I'm sorry, but real world driving against book figures in comparison - you will NOT get anywhere near simmilar fuel econ figures.

My firends just sold a 330ci in favour for an S2000, on a steady eddie run driving miss daisy he saw 27mpg, people running these cars on e90post don't see that kind of econ even when driving hard.

On a steady eddie run mid 40's , not to be sniffed at  - and as petrol and diesel are teh same price(exactly around here) then the diesel has more appeal.

And you still get a nice engine note too  :signLOL: for a diesel
Don't judge me by your ability !
