Well I'll be damned! Being a tech I thought I would go and pull the rns out and check it over as to be honest it was fitted when I brought the car and something's just never added up. For starters as I pull it out I heard a rattle and what do I find once I strip the top of the casing off.....3 10p pieces so there's my cd error and sd error fixed. Now for the antenna I followed the wire to find it hiding in the drivers side curtain airbag and the pillar, pulled it all out and placed it in the correct position turned her on and wow chalk and cheese 7/7 satellites and cd and as is working. I did find however a plug not used in the back of the stereo and my mic which I thought might be hooked up to a Bluetooth module just floating around. Now how do I get the connectivity working between my phone and the unit as all my mfsw works with it already. ??

The connector I don't know what it does is the quad lock connector, I have 2 singles in the same loom coming out but only one fits in the stereo were it was where I pulled it out originally, the ones white which fits into the left hand connector but the other is brown however the plug is all wrong so won't slot in any ideas??

Can you take a picture of the rear and all the connections? I'm having trouble understanding what you've got.

However, it does sound like you're heading in the right direction.

Have you actually got a bluetooth module installed in the car?

Ok it's not the quad connection I mean. You know the gps antenna? The blue one is connecting which is fine but you have 2 white outputs next to it on the stereo, well I've got 2 single leads one is white and it is plugged into the one side but the other is brown and the connector doesn't line up? It was plugged in when I pulled it all out but it would be nice to know what it is. ??

There are two white connectors side by side, and the blue connector next to them. The blue is the GPS antenna (as you know) and the white connectors are mated to a single connector with two leads coming out of it on the factory install. So you have a twin and a single antenna connection in reality. The blue one is all okay, and the white one has only a single connector going to one side, and you have a spare brown wire, yes?

I don't have this brown wire on my Jetta, but I've a feeling you might have to buy an adaptor to get it to connect on to the head unit.  Obviously the RNS510 has been retrofitted, and someone "forgot" to do it properly. Mine was factory fitted so it's done proper like.

Your right and thanks so much for the info dude muchlio appreciate, however what is the other side supposed to do? As everything on the unit seems to work now? Do I actually need to buy a cable? Also where would the Bluetooth module be fitted if mine had one but never set up etc?

Just seen the pic at the bottom of that link that's exactly what I have the stereo end the single brown and white do you think that the other end what it's plugged into is connected the wrong way round? As in my cable is backwards? As googling some pics the double white end is in the back of the rns in every pic I have seen

The rear of the RNS has a twin socket male fakra connection. The aerial should have a twin socket female fakra connector to clip onto it. If you have two wires each with a single connector on then you either need to buy an adaptor to connect them to the RNS, or as the link suggests just split them out of the plastic connector and they should push into the RNS. Although there's a chance that if they just push in then they could just as easy pull out again. The stock connectors lock on.

Yeah I know what I mean is though what happens is whoever fitted this got that cable the wrong way round?? As in the twin is fitted to whatever module it goes too and now the other end only one of the connectors is fitted which it is and the brown is doing nothing, however I can't see what it does do as everything on the unit works. ??ill go take a look see if I can find the module

Those two wires are both aerial wires mate. They should both be connected to the head unit, and they both run off to the aerial.

One might be FM and one AM, or they might both be FM and provide better signal.
