Stage 2 Clutch discussion...
« on: October 13, 2009, 04:40:51 pm »
I came across this and thought it sounded like a good deal?

The FX200 System uses the Power Plus I Pressure Plate and a Steel Backed Kevlar disc. This clutch is designed for the street enthusiast or weekend racer. The FX200 offers similar torque holding capacity to the FX100, however, its life expectancy is increased 2-3 times with the Kevlar disc. Our Kevlar friction material is non-abrasive and doesn't score the mating surfaces. It features only slightly increased pedal pressure, significantly longer life than stock, and normal clutch feel during engagement and disengagement for the smoothest operation of any stage we offer.

All Clutch Masters systems come complete with:

    * Pressure Plate
    * Clutch Disc
    * Throw-out Bearing (when applicable)
    * Pilot Bearing or Bushing (when applicable)
    * Alignment Tool

This clutch kit does also include a Single Mass Aluminum or Steel Flywheel to convert your factory equipped Dual Mass Flywheel to Single Mass.  Please be sure to choose between Aluminum or Steel above, before placing your order.

Features

    * Extra long life street system
    * Holding capacity 70% over stock
    * Heavy-Duty reinforced pressure plate
    * Hi-Leverageâ„¢ pressure ring design
    * Sprung hub/cushioned disc
    * Steel backed Carbon Kevlar friction material

my thoughts :

1. Can you move to a non DMF with no harmonic balance issues?
2. in terms of mass distribution is it equivalent to OE
3. Whats the actual rating ?? looking at torque limits etc

but apart from that Im tempted  :happy2:

i heard a few of the s3 boys are actually sticking with the OEM duel mass and not going for a single... its due to the harshness of it and that it makes gear changes take longer etc

I paid less than that for my South Bend Stage 5 kit which is SMF and rated to over 500ft/lbs..

You need to run a new DMF with that clutch and there not cheap either, seems on the expensive side to me for sure!

I'm having no problems with my SMF
