Am I really going to see great benefits from an uprated intercooler?

Will I really see a great difference bolting an alloy S3 cooler on?

 Is it worth the extra cash and fitting of it?

It's the last thing left to do.

When they logged it after the mapping, the intake temps were at an acceptable level.

I think its optional but not mandatory.

I have the APR cooler    The THS is the more affordable option.  I was quoted £585 for a THS.

I'd recommend the THS cooler over the S3. All sorts of info, comparisons and links re THS, S3 and the OEM one, Reply #100......

I've already got an S3 cooler on mine and will be going S2+ later on this week. I was debating to go Wagner, but I think I'm going to start saving for a Golf R and go to town on that instead

im running the S3 cooler on mine at stage 2+ and runs fine
would the wagner or ths be worth it for a few more ponies?

Yeah, whilst I've already got S3, maybe not, but if I had a stock one, then I'd probably upgraded, S3 will suffice

An efficient intercooler design can give the benefit 5% to 10% more power and resisit heat soak for longer, so you will see benefits its just deciding which 1 you wanna go with.

a few years ago me and Mike did some back to back logging of our cars in Chatham (Mine: Stage 2+ K03 TFSI on stock IC and Mikes Stage 2+ K04 with APR Cooler) on a warm day.  Tthe stock IC was terrible in comparison iirc mikes car was running around 50^oC cooler, and more importantly his IATs recovered back to normal really fast, whereas my stock cooler took an age to recover

In the winter though, i'd imagine the stock intercooler copes fine when air temps are around freezing?

@OP intercooler wont help your figures on the dyno as dyno fans are usually enough to keep the inlet temps low, although a free-er flowing IC will give a few horses.  It really is on the road & track (especially)where the IC helps

When you consider they tuners say for every 1^oC raised in the IAT you lose 1Hp, I was losing nearly 50Hp after every single 3rd gear WOT pull to the redline, and those temps took around 5 minutes of gentle driving to recover to the normal temp. so 5 minutes of around 50hp less to play with.
