DSG, no launch control, quick start?
« on: April 25, 2014, 09:46:13 am »
Morning guys, hopefully this is posted in the correct place.

Ive got a 2005 DSG and don't have launch control.
As I can't rev the engine to 3000 then I'm just wondering if you have any tips on how to get quick off the line.
I'm obviously not wanting to break any records or my car

So any tips would be appreciated.

Also my car is completely standard. Apart from making sure the diverter valve and PCV are working correctly are they some basic mods I should be looking at? Induction kits etc?

Thank you for any replies

Put it in sport turn the traction control off hold your foot on the brake and then accelerator.
Should hold revs around 3k rpm then just release the brake.

Hi mate,

Sadly I don't have launch control so when I try that the car lurches forward at 1.5rpm  :sad1:

Any other tips ?

Just leave it in s with your foot on the brake at the lights then just plant your foot on the accelerator. When ready to go :driver:

Isn't launch control a bit of a waste of time - unless you want to leave a great big 11 down the road and take a couple of mm of tread off your tyres?

That's what happened when my mate showed me in his DSG GTI  :sad1:

Torque is limited when you've got your foot on the brake, so hold it on the handbrake for 1 - 1.5 sec before pressing the throttle.

How do you get launch control? Does it need programming in?

Btw it won't work till engine is at 90 fully warmed up I find it a bit of a faff tbh not any difference from letting go brake and giving it gas, on launch I find a time laps from letting off to the clutch bite point and it's all throttle controll as it will spin I thought it would control wheelspin?

Evening all, turns out that after warming up the car I do have launch control!
I can see it being a bit of fun when the weather is hotter. Tonight it was wet so launch control just made the car spin on the spot.
I imagine it being sweet if you master the control of the car to stop it wheel spinning.
I thought it was only for 2006 onwards

Probably not use it much though

WHen I bought my car, it had cheap and nasty tyres on it.  I found launch control very useful for getting rid of them but I haven't used it since!
