MK6 GTD - Cruise Broken
« on: April 26, 2014, 10:38:58 am »
Got a 10 plate GTD, and the cruise stopped working not long after a service. Driving at 75, stuck it on and it just wet off. red explanation point? Just got car back from having a new turbo actuator, it's only done 54k :/ Any ideas on what to look for on the cruise? No ABS lights?

Try and clear faults with vagcom. If no luck then cruise switch is probably faulty and need changing of the indicator stalk.

If you got the car fixed at dealers id take it back saying cruise worked before the repair and doesnt now and get them to diagnose it.

Good luck!

This is the strange thing, Nothing in VCDS, no errors or nothing! Got a specialist to have a little look and he said the signal is definitely leaving the stalk but then stopping at it's next port of call but he's not sure what that is. I have been reading up and could be something as simple as a Brake Switch? I can grab a new one of these for £8. Anyone any ideas where it's located?

Thanks

If you test it with VCDS (in advanced measuring blocks) you'll be able to check all the stages from the CC switch to brake light and clutch switch before pulling anything to pieces.

I assume you've checked for no blown fuses?

Eddie - if the stalk was broken then surely they wouldn't be able to record a signal leaving the stalk? Maybe they can still not sure, I will try get another stalk to temp plug in and test!
