Removing centre console Help
« on: April 27, 2014, 06:38:01 pm »
Hi all I am trying to replace my current iPod connection as per the picture below

For the MDI kit

To install in here

Now I have removed all of the screws from the lower section of the centre console

But I am completely stuck with how to remove the arm rest, I have removed three screws from the armrest two from the back and one which is fitted in the cubby hole on the third picture.

Can anyone advise how to remove the armrest section as it is rather annoying and I just wanna listen to my choice of music via my phone.

Cheers Rob1

Hi mate, once you've unscrewed the rear cupholder it will pull out, you can then lift the rear section with the vents off.

Hello Rob  :happy2:
Does the old connector not work with the MDI kit? If not the cup holders can be a bit of a pain but if memory serves correct - open the cup holder and look up towards the vents where you will see two T20(I think) screws, undo them. Now look left and right about half way up the cup holder and you will see like a cut out in the plastic that acts as a clip to help secure the holders in. With your trim removal tool gently pry them away and the holder kinda lifts up and away.
Hope this helps mate

Cheers guys I will give it another go, matey the connection on my current Ipod dock is slightly different, I guess could swap over the connectors but I don't have the correct tools to crimp or solder the wires to the connector.
Thanks Rob
