Are these the correct size for the ED30?
« on: October 15, 2009, 07:12:38 pm »
Just looking at these

http://www.rimstyle.com/products/detail/?category=alloy_wheels;type=bbs_ck_an;model=286;id=BBSCKAN1880805112444412900

Are they the exact same PCD/offset etc as the Pescaras?

Anyone used these people before?

If I went for tyres which would be the best value/performance to go for?

Thanks

I think the Pescaras have an ET of 51 but those should fit ok.
Without traction power is nothing!

they wii stick out about 18 mm more than pescaras because of the different offset and wheel width , might be ok if you ve not lowered the car but if you have i think they will rub !  and 18 " ck s tend to look small imo  :happy2:

I make it 12 mil further out than a Pesci, which would be pretty much perfectamondo.  :happy2:

Many thanks for your help

I guess these are just about the same fitment as Pescaras being ET50?

Does anyone know the weight of the Pescaras against say the BBS CK/CH?

Cheers

Hi Cossy,

The BBSCH are virtually identical in weight to the Pescara's. The CK's will be a similar weight too.

The CH link above gives an offset of 50mm, so even these will stick out 7.25mm more than the Pescaras. They will fit with no issues though :happy2:

How to work out how much alloys will stick out further to stock.....

Stock offset is ET51, which means that the alloy hub face is offset by 51mm from the centreline of the alloy.
For every unit that the ET drops from 51, the wheel will stick out an extra 1mm
For every 1/2inch that the alloy is wider than stock, the alloy will stick out 6.25mm.

So...eg

The stock alloy is 7.5" wide and has an offset of 51.

so, an alloy that is 8" wide and ET51 will stick out 6.25mm more
an alloy that is 8" wide and has an offset of 44 will stick out 6.25mm for the extra width and then 51-44=7mm extra on top of that for the (ET) offset difference. :happy2:

Most aftermarket wheels at 18" tend to be 8" or even 8.5" wide. There are alloys you can get at 7.5" wide, but not many reputable ones.

Dotz aren't bad and are relatively cheap. I quite like this wheel, but the anodised finish isn't to my taste. Even this will stick out 6mm, but shouldn't have any rubbing issues.

As long as you stick with an 8" or 7.5" alloy and keep to an offset of 45 to 51 , you should be okay :happy2:

No-one on here has the DOTZ alloys fitted, but I have seen them on a few MKV's and they look very good.

on a lowered ed 30 pescara s with 10mm spacers rub the back arches they did on mine and on dan paynes with my wheels, so i would think you may have problems with these

I agree it depends how much you lower it and how though, it seems to be pot luck what ride height you get with just springs. there are qiute a few people on here with the same springs but completely different ride height. Also the weight of the wheel comes into play, but at 10 or 12 mil futher out the rubbing would only be very slight and occasional in my opinion.  :happy2:
