Am I suffering from poor economy? GT TDI 140
« on: April 29, 2014, 09:11:30 am »
Hi all,

Got myself a gt tdi 140 on an 08 plate a few weeks back, and wondering if my economy figures are right?

I currently do about 5 miles round town followed by 20 miles motorway commute each way. I'm finding I can get 60+ mpg around town, but then my ultimate average at the end of the journey is about 54-56mpg. I cruise at 75-80 on motorway so certainly not driving it hard

A full tank comes in at just short of 600 miles.

It sounds like its about right, but always nice to have a 2nd opinion. Its a 1 owner car with full history and last serviced about 6k ago

I have a pretty shoddy run to work and I get about 475 miles per tank averaging 48-50mpg on my commute from my '06 140 GT TDI.
So it sounds like you're doing ok.

i've a gt tdi 140 sport and the figures are almost exact to mine mate,  the most mpg i get on a run is when the car sits at a true 70mph which is just under 75mph on the speedo.

my 140 gt tdi sport average of averages is about 56mpg.
never goes over 62mpg
get about 700miles/tank on daily 45mile commute each way down A12.

my MK4 110 was over 70mpg.

That's my mind put at rest then! Makes a big difference to the 360 I used to get from my GTI that's for sure!

60+ around town, how?
In town should be the lowest figure you end up with.

From my 170 I have had up to 58 on a steady A-road at about 50 mph and low 50s ne motorway but much less in town and in short trips. Overall average is usually about 48 mpg and 500+ miles per tank

I normally see 46MPG - 460 miles to a tank on my daily 95 mile commute, i would kill for high 40s low 50s!

I drive mine like it's been stolen, 90% town driving with a dual carriageway blast, always use v-power nitro+ and never see less than 45 or over 55mpg.

I get about 450-500 miles per tank which increases on a long journey.

I had one of these for four years and never got above 50mpg average. About 480-500 miles to a tank I got.
However, I don't commute and have a heavy right foot.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Drove like a granny on the last tank and with 80% motorway driving at 60-65mph i managed 502 miles out of the tank.
