I've been offered the full amount of money that I bought my car for last year from the dealers I bought it off (due to warranty repairs proving to be more costly than they had initially thought). So I have the choice of either, having my GTI paintwork repaired OR getting my money back.

Has anyone been in this situation before? If so, what did you do?

With what I have in the car plus what I have saved, I think I'll have approx. £10k. I have been looking at edition 30's and sciroccos, any other recommended cars? I could potentially add a little more in should the car be right. I don't have to get the car from the dealership either, I can have a cheque.

Before anyone asks, I will not name and shame the dealership.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks guys  :happy2:

I see no issues with naming and shaming, other than I wouldn't call it shaming them. The car clearly has issues, and they're giving you the option of having the car repaired or buying it back from you for exactly what you paid for it. There's no shame in that at all, in fact I'm pleased to see a dealership with some modicum of integrity.

Go on, which dealership is it?
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

As said above, if there offering you the full purchase price refunded, maybe a good opportunity to get something else, if its got issues will you fully happy later on.

It needs a new wing, rear boot lid painting and both sills doing (not sure if the sills need replacing or not). The total is reasonably high compared to the value of the car.

The reason they have offered it me is becasue I had several problems in the past with this car and the previous one.

Thanks for the links guys.

Heart says get an edition 30 or Rocco. Love both cars, just trying to find some more tidy examples!
