Tdi conversion starts today
« on: May 06, 2014, 10:08:33 am »
Hi all

In my 'intro' post i said i was hoping to improve the exterior of my standard tdi and was recruiting the parts needed... well today it has gone in to the bodyshop.

I got hold of a New front gti conversion bumper with fog lights, rear lower valance (no exhaust cut - as preference), genuine side skirts and 17 cades wheels. All to be painted grey with black gloss on rear lower valance / diffuser section.

Estimated 3 days work - costing a small fortune but it will be the exact car i want which is the beauty of modifications surely!

My goal is to have a clean and smart looking car that is excellent on the mpg for work and kids taxi'ing!

Pre- and post pictures to follow.

Cheers...

Look forward seeing the finished article! Pretty much what you doing is what I done to mine, facelifted bumper, sideskirts and clean rear valance with lower gloss black finish! The only difference is I went with the GT Sport frontend on mine rather than GTI that you're going for.

If you're upgrading the wheels then you should consider lowering it if you're on stock springs otherwise it would look a bit off (my car looks like a 4x4 at the moment with my BBS', hoping to get it lowered within the week or two once I get my Koni dampers). It doesn't have to be extreme, given that it's a daily you probably want the lowering springs and uprated damper combo to keep it relatively comfy.

Being a tdi owner myself you need an r32 spoiler, it transforms the whole rear of the car.

Great colour choice  :happy2: look forward to seeing it finished

What rear valance is that? Seen it on a few but never says what it is.
VW Golf GTi DSG2.0 TFSI : DSG : BBS LM : Blueflame exhaust : Pipercross Venom Induction : Eibach Springs

Just a cheap job from eBay - probably via Europe. It's come up superb. I'll put some links once I collect it tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thanks all!
